Rothschild Surrealist Ball
The Rothschild Surrealist Ball of 1972... elaborate masks, extravagant art, Illuminati-vibes, Audrey Hepburn, and Salvador Dalí... and it all happened in total secret.
French socialite and doyenne Marie-Heleme de Rothschild threw legendary parties, this particular one took place on the night of December 12, 1972 at her family's Chateau de Ferrières and reveals the creatively-eclectic sentiments of the occult elite.
The invitations (which were written backwards and meant to deciphered with a mirror) read "Black tie, long dresses, and Surrealist heads."
Everything was nonsensical, dream-like and utterly over the top.
And between the glamorous guests and the famed faces of art they embodied through their "surrealist heads", every society and art world deus was in attendance... even Salvador Dalí himself.
