A James Turrell Encounter
A James Turrell Encounter | Artist James Turrell is our favourite weaver of electromagnetic spectrum rays. He plays with light, space and our perception, to constructs some epic immersive installations.
James Turrell ‘s latest exhibition Enounter is currently being featured at Culiacán Botanical Gardens in Sinaloa, Mexico. This time, Turrell isn’t taking over the inside of a museum, but instead building an observatory out of a (Hobbit approved) hill, which viewers may enter to observe the juxtaposition of natural light with Turrell’s programmed, artificial lighting design.
“I make spaces that apprehend light for our perception, and in some ways gather it, or seem to hold it…my work is more about your seeing than it is about my seeing, although it is a product of my seeing.”– James Turrell, Encounter
