Creative Mapping Takes on Cannes 2015
CANNES 2015: Cannes Film Festival is perhaps the most famous film festival in the world, and certainly the most glitzed out. With directors and their movies selected from around the world to compete in a series of categories, the most prestigious and anticipated of which is the Official Selection to be judged by the Cannes jury at the end of the festival. Every year, this south of France port turns into a mad house of industry folk, celebrities, press, and photographers hopping from red carpet to dozens of screenings per day to nights filled with after parties and events hosted by what seems to be every brand imaginable. And it never stops, or so it feels. Lasting two straight weeks, time is morphed at Cannes, with one day feeling like a week, you can imagine how the festival consumes you.
Cannes has a Jekyll and Hyde effect. There is the glamour of the red carpets, after parties on yachts, the men in tuxedos and bowties, industry meetings taking place in the lobbies of every five star hotel on the grand boulevard, and the designer gown clad celebrities posing for hoards of flash wielding paparazzi. And then there is the underbelly: the exhausted, zombiefied journalists trying to cover every film and event and racing to upload content the fastest from the nucleus press room inside the Palais, the people changing in the parking lots so as not to lose time between events, and the photographers in black suits, sweating in the 25 degree sun, and 2AM networking sessions going down at the bar of the Carlton Hotel. It’s a total mad house of creativity and is creative entrepreneurship at its best.
Creative Mapping is taking on both sides of this Cannes double edged sword. Running with the journalists, and putting on the glam facade for les montés des marches, and the exclusive after parties that follow. Follow us for live coverage, behind the scenes, updates and more:
