How to do Cannes like a Celebrity
Even Creatives need a dose of over the top once in a while. Heading to Cannes and looking to trade in those long studio hours and coffee fuelled creative sessions for a bit of glamour craziness? Well we’re giving you the down-low and how to take on the most glitz and glittered film festival (and movie town) in Europe like Charlize and Sienna. Just follow these steps…
If you’re a celebrity of decent proportions, go Carlton.
If you’re an older, industry type (think producers and buyers) the Majestic is where you’ll want to sleep (and network).
For the younger celeb and fashion crowd, go Martinez.
If you’re the kind of star that comes with your own security detail and experience Cannes exclusively by red carpet or inside a black car, the Hotel du Cap Eden Roc is the only way to go. This year it housed the likes of Natalie Portman, Charlize Theron, Sharon Stone, George Miller, and not to mention, was the venue of the Mad Max after party and celeb saturated AmFAR Gala.
Cannes is too crowded and out-trended, so go to Antibes for the best cuisine the Cote d’Azur has to offer. Michelangelo (aim for 10PM after a premier, if you can get a reservation, and you’ll be dining amongst the golden ones). La Colombe D’or if you’re feeling super over the top. For a beach side brunch, go for Tétou, in Golfe-Juan.
Leave your converses and docs at home, this is the time to whip out your heels and dress shoes. Think French nonchalance-chic for off the carpet, and on-carpet? Dresses with trains if you’re of the female affliction and a strict penguin-tux looks for the male variety. And if you want to be really on trend, leave that bow tie hanging open to get the full actor effect.
Le Silencio. Private club, inducted with that unforgettable Pharrel Williams Art Basel party, and in for its 3rd Cannes instalment.
Albane. Rooftop press junkets by day and star studded champagne filled nights of exclusive craziness.
Le Gothe. Located in the Palm Beach Casino with unbeatable views of La Croisette.
Yachts. All along the harbour behind le Palais where the floating parties are intimate and go all night long.
By day, go for the Plage du Majestic restaurant and the Nespresso Beach Bar. Carlton Terrace for lunch and apéro. By night? Lobby of the Carlton, 2AM. Martinez terrace and Majestic lounge.
